By Eedris,
End of season for Chelsea FC. Bayern Munich does not count lol
Let us talk Chelsea FC:
Big up to all Chelsea fans, to both Sarri in and out camps. Na passion we get, so no hard feelings. Yes, we have been spoilt over the years with wining and changing things at will. For the first time, we were confronted with dealing with our issues internally. This time money could not buy us out of our problems. I will like to say we got a great Owner, a great leader in Marina, and chairman Bruce Buck in finding ways in making us financially profitable and solvent.
The transfer ban and deep division in the ranks of Chelsea fans. It was too toxic, and I shamefully played my part as a fan. The firing of Sarri, in my opinion, had to be done. Something had to give, a sacrifice to the soccer gods had to be made, a new leader at the pulpit had to emerge, the church was in disarray. It seemed like it was either sarri’s head or Roman having to sell the club. Come to think of it, Sarri won us the Europa cup and finished 3rd.
Good coach but the wrong team. We could not keep recruiting coaches and players for the now, without thinking of how they fit in the future. At some point, the loan army and academy kids had to be given a chance.
In business, I believe it is called a re-org or implementation of LEAN Six Sigma methodology. Where an organization seeks to improve the quality output by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and minimizing variability. In this case, spend less or smart on top quality to meet financial fair play demands but win a trophy. Like Liverpool, who are deservedly Champions of England, Europe, and the world.
We have seen the United, City, Liverpool, and Arsenal way of rebuilding. In fact, Chelsea wrote the playbook Manchester united and the city is using, but alas we have reached the final breaking point of that concept. fire coach, replace coach, buy a whole bunch of players where 50% usually turns out to be crap and on the books forever. It was just not tenable anymore.
The return of Goal Keeping Legend Peter Cech as Technical Director, Legend and leader Lampard as manager, youth team coach and ex Chelsea player, and Frank Lampard’s roommate Jodi Morris, the return of Ashley Cole, Joe cole and Makelele to the youth setup. Lampard removing the barrier and implementing a change to practice sessions, which will include youths on certain days and moved their training to Cobham, where the first team trains. I guess makes everyone feel close and there is this feel-good factor is kicking in at the club.
Remember the same season we lost hazard, 50% of Chelsea goals, Transfer Ban (yes Pulisic joined, we know).
Throughout Pre-season, you could see how Frank wanted to play, which was high press, possession football, and direct. That been said this guy has only one-year experience. Based on our poor history with managerial job retention, no one was coming to take that Chelsea job except we were willing to pay through our nose for a coach. The Chelsea manager’s job was so unattractive at the beginning of the season.
That been said, with our managerial naivety, inexperienced players, 7 promoted academy players of which one of them has 15 prem goals. FA cup finals loss to the arsenal, CL Quarter final elimination to Bayern, top 4 finish. I cannot boldly claim this was better than last season or even a good season compared to Chelsea standards. Heck no, but I can tell you I have never felt more passionate and more optimistic about the future. I know with getting rid of a lot of dead wood and subpar players, recruiting appropriately in certain areas like GOALIE, CB, and CM, we will challenge for the title and other trophies. I know we are a club that does not have patience, so if we end up firing Lampard next season, I will be ok knowing he came in and showed us the way. Attractive, high pressing, and high goal scoring team and promoting the youths. I hope like Klopp he is given time and backed. This new project is way ahead of schedule but we are able to see some deliverables and I believe the duration of a painful rebuild is lesser than we thought. #superfrankie #COYB #endofseasonrant
