Season 2022/23 ended with two Liverpool fans sweeping up all the PFLEF trophies. Dr Saikat grabbed a prestigious and unprecedented Treble (PFLEF League 1, Head to Head League and Second Chance League). While my not very humble self won a Double (PFLEF League 2A and League 2B). This season, there are many managers who would rather see these two Kopites walk alone, empty handed. And based on that, we already have a very competitive start to the season.
We have had many FPL managers attacking the season with gusto and Gusto, the latter being a low budget wingback with impressive attacking returns. Having a Chelsea player who isn’t giving value for money like Sterling can be tricky though, since they have so many new players you can be forgiven for asking ”O-na-na, what’s his name”?
It has also been a head scratching start to the FPL season for many managers – one good game-week followed by a bad game-week, as inspired by Ten Hag’s ‘Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow’ philosophy. And after a game-week in which three forwards scored hattricks, a striker who couldn’t find his way out of the Forest is at risk of being tagged an Outkast (I’m Sorry Nic Jackson, I am for reeeeaal)
August was full of transfer intrigue fuelled by Saudi Arabia and also full of mysteries like that which occurred on a pitch owned by Saudi Arabia (Eddie, Howe did you manage to throw away a lead in an 11 v 10 match?). At the end of it all, we are here to announce our first Manager of the Month award for the season. No injustice here, the appropriately named – ”GunnersToTheTop” coached by Justice Akuchie finished top. Congrats Justice, you’ll receive your prize of a 30 day guest pass to The Athletic.
