May has been the month of disMay for many. It has also been a month in which some threw their rivals into disArray. Some fought for a throne which became non-existent, their efforts ending in demotion. Some got promoted without doing too much work, Bran Stark style. And some fought the good fight but bowed out after intense pressure, Theresa May style. The Long Summer is here, the Long Night is over. Wildcards or tamed ones, game-saving or game-ruining chips, captain choices, budget dilemmas… all laid to rest for the 2018/19 season. Take a bow everyone, take a bow.

League 1 Champion was Ahmed Awami, who has consistently been one of the best FPL managers in our leagues over the years.
Ahmed mostly went about silently scheming his way to the top this season in League 1. His team ”Silence of the Lham” scored a total of 2431 points and ranked 2770 among 6,324,237 players in the FPL world. For most of the season, he went toe to toe with Chris McIvor in League 1. Chris is a member of the reputable McIvor clan and is a previous Manager of the Season title holder. Ahmed ended up beating Chris to the league title by 136 points.
The top 4 in League 1 qualify for the Champions League organised by Billy Lea. So in addition to Ahmed and Chris, we have Anwesh Mishra and Adesola Adigun.
FootieFantasy Money League Champion was Adesola Adigun. He successfully did a Pep by defending his Money League title with 2254 points. It went all the way to the wire but 11 G.O.A.T managed to edge out Justice Akuchie’s team by 8 points. RIP Tiki Taka, our condolences. Although, we are guessing the 200 dollars prize money was surely sufficient justice. Ade Gunz swept off with 400 dollars top prize. We shall see if anyone can stop him from achieving a three-peat next season.
The Manager of the Season Award goes to Yinka Elegbede. GraZioMic FC were hot all season and kept dropping mics on their rivals. He had a late surge on the final day of the season, scoring 67 points to come from behind and take top spot ahead of Trevor Smith who finished 4 points fewer. Yinka’s 2344 points crowned him League 2B Champion.
However, he wasn’t done winning yet. He qualified for the Head to Head Final and faced off against Don Manuel’s Donrose Warriors. The warriors got vanquished 67-55. GraZioMic FC got crowned Head to Head League Champion. Winning those two titles proved how good Yinka was at navigating a tough FPL season. You just wonder if his beloved Man Utd should have put him at the wheel instead of Ole.
Deserved praise for the worthy champions in our other leagues has to be given to the following managers
League 2A Champion – Mershlin Moodley (The tortoise & de gea) ; 2257 points
Draft League, Classic – Daniel Diaku (Ayew Gonna Dance) ; 1685 points
Draft League, Head to head – DrSaikat Chakraborty (Kloppers Inc.) ; 84 points from 28 wins out of 38 games.
Thanks very much for an enjoyable FPL season. See you all again in Season 2019/20.
