We have raced from the moment the starting gun went “bang!” on the 10th of August, 2018. Many Fantasy Football managers were full of enthusiasm and energy in the first 50 meters but lost focus soon after and by December 2018, they had even forgotten they were ever in a race.
Some other managers gave in to their thirst too early in the race and quenched their chips long before the mid-way point. We also saw managers who raced into an early lead until fatigue quickly set in. However, despite the exhausting nature of this FPL race, most of us are still in the running for various milestones as we hit the home stretch.
Before proceeding further, let us applaud those who ran the best times in January and February.
The old glaswegian saying “squeaky bum time” made popular by Sir Alex Ferguson typifies this EPL title and top 4 run in. It’s just 1 point between the top 2 and 3 points between teams occupying the 3rd and 6th position. To discuss all of this we had David and Buchi who support Chelsea and Man Utd respectively join us on this episode.

Scott Parker getting the Fulham job after Claudio Ranieri was a fairly unremarkable story when the appointment was announced. He is the club’s third manager this season and their relegation from the Premier League is almost guaranteed. His inability to halt Fulham’s slide into the lower league should not take away from the fact that Scott Parker is someone with a quietly remarkable career featuring a couple of unique records.

Brexit. A word which didn’t even exist until the year 2012. However, it is now also a word we have probably heard uttered in the news 7 million times in the subsequent 7 years. Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are all still in Europe.
Their success and progress at that level have not absolved them of being trolled at various times. Here is our round-up of the hard-hitting, the humorous and the hurtful (including some bonus material featuring non-English sides).

The term sweeper keeper is now known to every casual football fan and is one of the recent tactical innovations in modern football. Sweeper keepers have been effectively in action since 1970’s with the Dutch deploying the usage of selection of a GK who was perhaps better on the ball than his shot keeping. Still traditional keepers were the norm and it was not until the rule change in back pass in the early 1990’s , that football world truly started realizing the importance of having a keeper who is also comfortable on the ball. The La Liga and Bundesliga were already making strides in this respect with especially in La Liga where it has been a long tradition of the GK taking part in the team buildups and rondos to hone the ball playing skills.

UCL is finely poised at the moment.. With the second legs of the first round knockout rounds to take place shortly, we shall soon know which teams will go to the next round. However, the pertinent question here is, are we going to witness a power change finally in UCL? UCL in the last decade has been dominated by Spanish sides.. Real Madrid won it four times and Barca won thrice with Atletico Madrid making two finals during that time span. The other three times, it was won by a Seria Side (Inter), an English side (Chelsea) and a German side (Bayern), each winning it once.. Such domination is unprecedented in modern times and many would rightly point out the reasons to be the presence of some generational players and two all time greats plying their trade there.
