Season 2022/23 ended with two Liverpool fans sweeping up all the PFLEF trophies. Dr Saikat grabbed a prestigious and unprecedented Treble (PFLEF League 1, Head to Head League and Second Chance League). While my not very humble self won a Double (PFLEF League 2A and League 2B). This season, there are many managers who would rather see these two Kopites walk alone, empty handed. And based on that, we already have a very competitive start to the season.
FPL Update
FPL Monthly Roll Call
Hello all,
This is our PFLEF Roll Call of the Top 5 Managers for each month of the 2022/23 season. I collated this from monthly scores across our League 1, League 2A and 2B competitions. The Top 5 for the first few months of the season were already included in this article here – https://www.footiefantasy.com/featured-articles/fpl-update-the-squeezed-season/
However, I’ve now collated the whole season into one article. You never know, your name might surprisingly be in one of these. Read on and enjoy 🙂
FPL Update – The squeezed season
With a shortened pre-season and a packed schedule of football matches needing to be concluded by the second week of November, this has been a very squeezed portion of the 2022/23 football calendar. Club competitions, UEFA Nations League matches, World Cup qualifiers, friendlies and an energetic round of the Carabao cup in England!! The squeeze has been real. For FPL purposes though, the most important question –
FPL Review 2021/22 – Good things come to those who wait

PFLEF 2021/22 – The Monthly Winners Roll Call
Each month in Season 2021/2022 was a chance to reset, a chance for all our PFLEF managers to stake a claim for the Manager of the Month prize. Staking a claim is great but claiming the top prize each month is even better. Here we present the roll call of managers who gave it a good go and made it into the top 5 each month 🙂

FPL Update – The Fast and Fury
Each Fantasy Premier League season starts off with optimistic managers, all dreaming of successful conquests. Some start off very fast. Launching out of the starting blocks with energy and purpose, accumulating points with speed and pace. The Fast.
The FPL managers who couldn’t match the Fast have suffered blow after blow like an opponent of Tyson Fury. They schemed, organised and plotted like Nick Fury. But the FPL gods avenged. Decisions backfired; like the captaining of Antonio the gameweek he picked a red card or captaining Ronaldo the gameweek Ole took him off the wheel. These provoked anger, disappointment and ultimately, fury. The story of the Fast and the Fury.
FPL Review – A Season Like No Other
Mama, we made it!! FPL Season 2020/21 was quite frankly, bonkers. Postponed matches all over the place. Games on, and then games off. Teams having 2 or 3 games in hand and FPL managers trying to figure out in advance which gameweeks the extra games would be squeezed into. Double gameweeks and eventually a triple gameweek. Players fit and ready when the gameweek starts, suddenly unavailable due to negative covid tests. Goals going in and then getting disallowed. VAR giveth, VAR taketh. Celebrate your FPL points too early at your own peril. Best laid plans getting ruffled up and tossed out the bedroom window. It was tough, it was rough but we made it through and we now all see each other because we’ve gotten there, Coolio style 🙂
FPL Update – The Royal Rumble
The month of March started with a Royal Rumble. Harry and Meghan came out swinging. Verbal punches were thrown, accusatory body-slams were undertaken and relationships were thrown out of the ring. It was a brutal attack but the monarchy is still standing. Like the monarchy, many FPL managers went through the months of January and February fighting a royal rumble. The ones who excelled at strategizing sat comfortably on the throne even after the difficult times. While the FPL managers who couldn’t adapt got jabbed, head-locked and dragged into relegation battles or got flung out of title races.
FPL Update – Confusion Break Bone
So here we are. 2021, already feeling like 2020 on some level. In the world of FPL just like in the real world, confusion is reigning. Matches are being called off after gameweeks have already resumed. FPL managers are now having to pay more attention to who they have on their bench. Blank gameweeks are suddenly not as blank as they previously were. Best laid plans are getting scattered amidst postponements and swapping of fixtures. Some FPL managers have coped very well with all of these. While for many, it is a rendition of ‘confusion break bone’.
