Momentum in fantasy football is interlinked with the best laid plans staying laid and not getting uprooted. However, there would often be gameweeks when a manager benches a certified starter or an injury occurs to that player you have been banking on to get you the much needed momentum. Which makes you start showing players you left on the bench some much needed affection.
Moral of the story – In uneven terrain, a strong bench in FPL can seat you more comfortably than your rivals.
So let’s check out those who sat most comfortably in the months of January and February. Our manager of the month for January was Philemon Lusama of League 2B. His Philli12 team was feelin’ good with a total of 297 points.
For the month of February, yours truly set the trend by scoring 254 points with my Trent Setters. Congrats to us both 🙂
Top 5 for January
- Philemon Lusama – 297 pts (League 2B)
- Luke McIvor – 285 pts (League 1)
- Chi Ogbe -278 pts (League 2A)
- Pablo Williams – 275 pts (League 2A)
- Â Trevor Smith- 272 pts (League 2A)
Top 5 for February
- Me !! – 254 pts
- Charles Vusi -253 pts (League 2A)
- Baibhav Mishra- 237 pts (League 2A)
- Hosea Mwakyoma – 237 pts (League 2A)
- Chris McIvor – 236 pts (League 1)
Unsurprisingly, members of the McIvor clan made it to the Top 5 for each month. Just cant keep those guys down. With fewer than 10 gameweeks remaining this season, keeping your fellow competitors down is paramount. Score blocking is still a legit tactic. For those hearing about score-blocking for the first time, it is a term I coined a couple years ago.
It involves spying, monitoring, snooping, investigative tactical analysis of the teams of your closest rivals. By knowing which of their players you have and don’t have, you can ‘score block’. This can be achieved by ensuring you both have the same players as feasibly allowed. It can help maintain a points gap or help ensure that a gap doesn’t widen until you get the chance to use the various chips like triple captain, free hit or bench boost.
So there we have it. The relegation and promotion battles are heating up. The draft leagues and the head to head leagues are going strong. And we have a Liverpool fan streaking away with the League 1 and Money League title at the moment, like his team in the EPL. 😉
We’ll have full details of all those at the end of gameweek 29 which concludes with Man City taking on Arsenal. Stay tuned.
Oladimeji Sapoloso.
