The Zaza made a reappearance and hosted Justice and Henry to discuss Arsenal’s first win at Old Trafford for the past 15 years. They also gave out the weekly awards.
Ola also provided his Fantasy Premier League Update section – Who is hot and who is not?
Ovie joined Ayo and The Zaza to discuss the humbling of Arsenal at Anfield despite a valiant effort. We discussed the wild ending of the game between the seagulls and Man United, Chelsea still continue their habit of leaking goals and the destruction of Pep’s Man City by the evergreen and ageless Jamie Vardy.
Dags made a grand entrance as he joined Eejay and Ayo to discuss the grand entrance of Thiago for his beloved Liverpool. We also had a chat around Arsenal’s “ugly win” and Crystal Palace doing a number on Manchester United at Old Trafford
And breathe.
We started off at a steady pace, picked up speed as we entered the notorious festive period of numerous fixtures, went round the bend aiming to hit the home straight and then ….. pause.
In 2020, our year of the new normal, it is great that we still have an ”old normal” which we’re familiar with-The world of Fantasy Premier League. One in which you keep a player for four gameweeks and get nothing in return, and as soon as you sell him, he starts hauling double digits in points. A world in which you have 4 unusable players on the bench scoring almost as many points as your starting 11. And a world in which Pep Guardiola continues his quest to screw over millions of FPL managers each gameweek. Ah, the sweet relief of normality.
Momentum in fantasy football is interlinked with the best laid plans staying laid and not getting uprooted. However, there would often be gameweeks when a manager benches a certified starter or an injury occurs to that player you have been banking on to get you the much needed momentum. Which makes you start showing players you left on the bench some much needed affection.
Moral of the story – In uneven terrain, a strong bench in FPL can seat you more comfortably than your rivals.
20-20 vision, we can see clearly now. Fantasy Premier League is clearly becoming more mainstream. The best chessmaster in the world is an avid player and briefly topped the rankings worldwide in December. Popular professional players like Sterling and Robertson are talking more about how they enjoy playing FPL. In fact, the disgust and anger Aguero showed recently when Villa spoiled Man City’s clean sheet in their 6-1 win suggested he had a Man City defender in his FPL team. Ha!!
So, this is serious business nowadays. Over 7 million people partake in the joys and frustrations of team selection, player transfers, captain choices and the choices for chip usage. Here is our update on how people are faring in our ever competitive leagues.
