Welcome to extraordinary footie fans
Ola had Bola and Eedris join the footiefantasy crew and they do a season review as we’re now a quarter of the way. They choose their best 11 and best memory of the season.
The Zaza made a reappearance and hosted Justice and Henry to discuss Arsenal’s first win at Old Trafford for the past 15 years. They also gave out the weekly awards.
Ola also provided his Fantasy Premier League Update section – Who is hot and who is not?
We had Yemi and Idris join Ayo to discuss the bore-fest at Old Trafford, the EPL dark horses, and also hand out our weekly “egg on the face & kudos for the week” awards
Choko joined Eejay and Ayo and we chatted about Spur’s giving up a 3 goal lead in 10 mins, the horrible challenge from Pickford, the oddly slightly underwhelming Man City – Arsenal game and Project big picture wrap up. It was also a milestone 50 episodes for the podcast version.
Bayern fan – Dayo joined Ola and Ayo as we previewed the UCL 20/21 Group stages. The group of death, easiest group on paper, Top scorer,
and qualifier predictions
In another wild weekend of results were Man United and Liverpool was literally in 6’s & 7’s as they both got humiliated by Spurs and A.Villa. We had Spurs fan Onochie join Chuky and Ayo to breakdown the game at OT
Ovie joined Ayo and The Zaza to discuss the humbling of Arsenal at Anfield despite a valiant effort. We discussed the wild ending of the game between the seagulls and Man United, Chelsea still continue their habit of leaking goals and the destruction of Pep’s Man City by the evergreen and ageless Jamie Vardy.
Dags made a grand entrance as he joined Eejay and Ayo to discuss the grand entrance of Thiago for his beloved Liverpool. We also had a chat around Arsenal’s “ugly win” and Crystal Palace doing a number on Manchester United at Old Trafford
As per our normal tradition, the footiefantasy team “runs the rule” on our predictions and expectations for the Top 6 teams and relegation teams for next season:
Ayo
Winner – I think Man City will come back stronger because I expect Aguero to have a big final season and City to sign Koulibaly. Their weakness down the middle and lack of a commanding 1-1 defender can be solved with the Koulibaly signature.
2nd place – Liverpool should be just as strong but the league will be more competitive this season and they should drop more points than last season and will be in a title race with Man City. I suspect they can’t match the same level of intensity
3rd – Chelsea strengthened significantly in attack with the addition of Werner, Ziyech, Havertz to add to Pulisic. I expect them to score significantly more goals, however, the challenge will be how Thiago S. adapts to the EPL and finding the 3rd midfielder to pair with Kante and Havertz to provide that right contrast for balance
4th – I expect United to just make 4th based on current standings, the addition of Sancho should put them in the conversation for 3rd. Just like last season, I think it will be a slugfest with 1 or 2 teams for this position.
5th – I expect Arsenal to be more organized and create more chances, but they still lack quality in-depth for a proper midfield enforcer, if they manage to wrap up the Partey there will be a party and propel them to 4th.
6th – Wolves without Europe and can focus on 1 game per week makes them a dangerous proposition
Relegation – I tip Fulham, West Brom, and Aston Villa to go down
Eejay
1st – Liverpool
2nd – Chelsea
3rd – Man City
4th – Arsenal
5th – Man United
6th – Spurs
Relegation – Leeds, WBA, and Fulham
The United boy’s – Yinka, Yemi, Jola, and Chuky joined Ayo to hand out season-ending review for the whole Manchester United squad, manager, and Board – a.k.a Ed Woodward
